Mutorashanga Green Pools

Green Pools is located about 70 kilometers away from Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe’s Great Dyke mountain range, just north of the mining town of Mutorashanga. The Green Pools are a remnant of the former mines. The water in the pool is a wonder to watch, it has an Emerald blueish – greenish color due to its mineral contents and algae-free because of that intense mineral content. It is probably because of its color that people have come up with myths and tales about the existence of mermaids in it, which has not been proven yet. 😉

The cool water is suitable for swimming and the one who dares does a cliff jump into the green pool. The place is also used by divers. The water is very clear and there are several ‘wrecks‘ at the bottom.

Green Pools is definitely worth a visit as its breathtaking and absolutely an amazing experience. It is what you call a hidden gem, mainly known by the locals and where you won’t find any tourism (yet).  So it was not developed as such. You will not find any facilities there. It’s just a raw place, and that’s what makes it attractive. So don’t forget to bring food and drinks!
